Dressing your age vol. 3

I am inspired by all of the women over 40 bloggers out there. I have encouraged my beautiful mom, who loves reading blogs and has a keen sense of fashion to start up a blog herself-- for now ill just continue to feature her. We went to a movie date last week and when she stepped out I had to snap some pictures because my mama looked so stylish! I think its amazing to see so many strong, beautiful and fashionable women on the web. Hot mamas are everywhere and I love when we all know how to dress our bodies correctly! Take my mom, she is tall an thin. She paired this old navy top (which she tied in the front to add some structure) with these seven 4 all mankind jeans.

Dotted frocks!

This polka dotted frock was another find from my favorite vintage store in Phoenix. It was actually on the sale rack an a steal at $10 bucks! I love the purple and teal colors mixed together. I paired this frock with this teal LC belt (also seen here), Ray ban sunglasses and target sandals.

Summer Sephora

I think every time I stop into Sephora I end up purchasing something I had no intent to buy. I fall weak for all things beauty and fashion an simply can not resist. I stopped into Sephora this week for some new lip glosses. With summer rapidly approaching I wanted to try out some fun colors and was leaning towards a coral. I love that you can try on the colors in store - you can walk in with no make up and have a new look by the time you leave. Makeup is always a fun pick me up and I can spend hours inside sephora.

I picked up a lip stain (I love my red lip stain that I have on here I like that the color stays on through out the day), lip stick (I like to mix this with a coral MAC Lip Gelee to add some shine), colorful blush (it is a bit pinkish and last most of the day)  and mint color nail polish called Milf :).

Here's the strawberry kissed lip stain

Friday Finds

Last Friday I let you in on some of my favorite home finds from Pinterest, so here's a follow up wedding edition. I often find myself lusting over beautiful wedding gowns, shoes, wedding ideas, favors and engagement rings. I think  a lot of girls/ women dream of their wedding day. I never did as a child only once I started college. I had then dreamed of becoming a wedding planner and even minored in Event Planning. While in college I worked a summer at a bridal boutique in San Diego. I enjoyed it for the most part, women are hard to please so one can imagine that a women is particularly picky when it comes to wedding shopping. I enjoyed the proposal stories and helping everyone find the perfect dress... But man lugging all those heavy dresses around and then reorganizing them back into the correct place was a task. I think if I had more on the job training I would have enjoyed it more.   The problem was that for us women buying a wedding dress is huge investment, for some  they continue to find one that's "better" then the one they have. I cant recall anyone who walked out of the store on  their first day with thee dress!

Here are some of my favorite finds --all taken from pinterest!

LBD

Every woman needs or has got to have one of these in their closet. From cocktail to casual its an essential in your wardrobe. This LBD (little black dress) was purchased as a "work" purchase. I often distinguished work from play but now a days since Im not in an office everyday I sort of mix and match. It was actually pretty nice out today-- maybe mother nature was tired of me saying how hot it is.. & it seems rain is in the forecast the next couple of days! I typically don't stick to following the rules.. who says black and brown don't match?

My obsession with maxis

I recently posted about my summer must haves- Maxi dresses. One of my new followers on twitter told me that maxis don't always work for every height. Which is totally agreeable but I also think a lot of body figures can rock a maxi. You can added a belt to synch the waist or dress it up with a blazer. I think maxis leave room when your having a body conscious day because it can hide your flaws due to the lose-ness. Now with mullet style dresses I think it suits shorter heights.  I usually pair this maxi with heels, but I wanted just a casual look so I paired it with (these) TB sandals. The dress is a tad bit longer with flats but I think it looks fine. I wore this on a movie date  to see Zac Efron in the Lucky One. Ahhhhhhh.. can I just have a side note here and say that he is gorgeous! The movie was pretty good, of course this Nicolas Sparks movie had me teary eyed and reaching for a kleenex (Im a hopeless romantic)! It was a really sweet, romantic love story. Take a girlfriend and have a girls night date =] you wont be let down!

Dream Home

The great thing about renting an apartment is the non commitment part. I have realized that my house will need two major things: a large enough closet ( hello this blog is mostly about fashion! I'm definitely a guilty shopaholic ) and a spacious kitchen-- have I mentioned how much I love food?! Fashion has always been my first love but more recently home decor has jumped into play. I love shopping for things for my home and often find myself de-cluttering due to my shopaholic ways. Target has become my go to place and I seem to always walk out with a new addition for my apartment. Tying with the whole home decor  I can honestly say I love most all of the shows on HGTV especially House Hunters & Property Virgins ( why does hgtv they make renovations look so easy though?)  Anyways, pinterest always seems to be a good source of inspiration and I cant help but share these beautiful rooms with you all! They will be added mentally to my dream home inspiration board!

Love this mint color & the room is clean and sleek
Love the eat at bar bench!

Beautiful entryway

Relaxing over sized tub!

Hello Shoes!

Does Pinterest have you dreaming about  things? I'm not ashamed to admit that I do love all things wedding as well. And thanks to Pinterest I do  catch a lot of wedding fever! Overall I love the site-- I find some pretty neat fashion inspiration!! All of the images above were taken from various users on Pinterest.

Style Files | Dressing your age

Happy Friday!!! My weekend plans consist of cleaning my apartment and catching up on some much needed r&r =] This week felt especially long due to the heat I believe. Arizona reached its high record breaking April weather and forecast say it will be in the 100s all weekend going into next week. I went to sushi last night with my mama and the owner a family friend ( If you're ever in my neck of the woods you need to try this sushi place- Sushi Eye in Motion) told me it takes your blood and body a year to adjust to this weather. He said 100 is nothing! Oh boy is all I keep thinking when I see the temperature rising.

In between freelancing I have been on the hunt for a new job. (which is a job in itself!) An Arizona job, one that has an office with uhm people to interact with. I love the time I have to browse the web, read a good book( I'm almost done with Catching Fire)  and catch up with my family but I think after about 5 months of living here its time to settle down and find a good job work environment.

Anyways onto the fashion! Here is the second installment of dressing your age. (recall my last post here!) Here is an easy put together look that looks suitable on all ages. Mama loves a good little wedge and these are super cute summer ones!

Easy Maxis

Happy Thursday!! Will there be sunshine this weekend in your area?! I'm so ready for this weekend- its going to be 100 degrees!  We skipped spring and are on full speed to summer :)

Onto todays look- Maxis- and how much I'm lovin them! Previously I posted about the high low, mullet or tail hem line maxi - there are so many different names for this look- long in the back short in front - seen here.  They have become increasingly popular the past couple of years. I think they are for sure my go to summer piece and everyone should add one to their closet. Its a simple "throw on" piece to run around in especially in this desert heat. They are light weight and you can find so many cute funky & colorful prints!

Here is one of my favorites from last summer. My mom picked this one up for me because she said it "reminded" her of something I would wear! Hmm perhaps all of the bright colors?
